In the previous post I gave a short introduction about the subject of my thesis. In the following posts I am going to cite different aspects from my thesis subject. Let’s begin with the problem of food waste.

The food processing industry produces large volumes of by-products derived from the production and preparation of food. But the problem of food waste is not only situated in the food industry but also in the preparation of food at home. People throw away increasingly more valuable food residues and this has an impact on the environment, economy and socially according to the EU fusion website. On environmental point of view food revers to the use of water, land and resources but also emission of greenhouse gasses and pollution. So if a lot of food is wasted than a lot of valuable components are lost and there is purposeless pollution. Economically it means that money is wasted and they have to invest in waste management costs. There are also some question on social point of view namely the controversy between food waste and poverty.  And this controversy is also something that keeps me thinking. While we waste half of all food that is produced, a great number of peoples face poverty and are hungry. I think that disposal of consumable food is simply irresponsible. To tackle to problem of food waste we have to make people aware of it. So I hope that next time somebody is willing to throw away food residues, that they are going to think back at my post.
